It should not lose the scanned channels when you just shut the box off and back on using the converter box remote.
Without turning anything else off, just turn the converter box off for a minute or so and then back on. If that causes the channels to be lost, your converter box is defective.

Typically the worst case scenario if your Windows partition got a nasty virus is that you'd only lose your Windows data. The Mac side would remain unaffected.
Viruses that bridge between operating systems are extremely rare, and I haven't heard of any on the Mac side of things (there was a Windows to Linux one in 2002). However, if a particularly nasty virus got hold of the Windows side that actually affected the hardware in a large scale, such as causing the machine to catastrophically overheat or wipe out entire hard drives, the Mac side could be affected then. Most viruses now are not destructive, as hackers want your computer to continue to function as SPAM robots and the like, and breaking your hardware is rarely a good business model when they could control it instead. And if they control your Windows side... they wouldn't have any control of your Mac side.
I have managed several Macs running Windows, in Boot Camp dual boot setups and virtualization (Parallels) setups, and no one has ever had any problem on a Windows partition that reached over to the Mac partition (nor any virus whatsoever that wasn't picked up by Symantec Antivirus Corporate). While it is theoretically possible, I would just put on some anti-virus software (links to free software below), and to be on the safe side back up your important data to an external Mac formatted hard drive.

Apple is general and could be anything that is under the apple brand. Mac is apple computers. A Mac specialist is also a apple specialist, but an apple specialist wouldn't always be a mac specialist.

Myth is not a pretty colour. It will leave you looking sick. I would suggest opting for Plink or Politely Pink. They aren't all that nude but they are lovely shades. Another great colour that looks good on most people is High Tea.

You do NOT use the disk to install the router. Assuming you have a wireless card you need to go to Finder/Apllications/Utilities and select the network tool. This will see the router if the wireless is working. Do NOT mess with the router if other machines can use it. I'm looking for an external capture card to record my gaming vids. I've checked out the dazzle one and it has a lot of mixed reviews. Any other ones that you would recommend. i think the best external capture card for a mac out their is the dazzle. and Daniel C really wtf. no one cares and how your ps3 is that your mom bought for you okay? anyhow. i think the dazzle for the mac is great. great quality and its very very simple to use. i personally use one as well. you can also booting windows on your mac using bootcamp and get the gamebridge. which is personality my favourite capture card, its cheap, good quality and very simple.

You need an Ethernet cable to connect via Ethernet. It's that simple. But you can connect to a wireless network wirelessly as long as you have a wireless adapter. Apple's wireless networking tool is called Airport.

If you are talking about ".dmg" files which are disk image files that mac mounts like a drive and then runs the program within, you can use a program called Transmac to view, extract, and even edit the files inside.
My powerpoint only recognizes WMV video file so far & it won't recognize quicktime.
Maybe suggest other formats that i could convert it to so that it would be compatible for both windows and mac.

Flip4Mac - download the free codec. It will allow your Mac programs to read back WMV properly. Hopefully that should do the trick for you.

I am on a pc and trying to open some older files from a old laptop of a friend that are all in the pages format from their mac. I don't have a mac, but need to open them. I have looked for an online converter or something to do it but can't find anything. Short of emailing them to a friend with a mac or buying a mac myself is there any other option to get these open?
They open on my Windows XP box. What is the message you get when you try to open them? If you have a file called "Friend_letter.pages" and you view it in a "My Computer" window, it should look like a folder, because all Pages files are actually packages. Inside the folder should be other folders. One of those is QuickLook. Inside that there can be one or more files. You should find a "Thumbnail.jpg" and if you open that, you can read all the text. If the file was saved with a preview, you will also see "Preview.PDF". If the file had images added, they should be in the ""Friend_letter.pages" folder also, as well as embedded in the Thumbnail.jpg and the Preview.PDF.

Before I bought my Mac, I have to admit, I was a Windows fanboy. Despite all the problems (crashing, freezing, viruses that display floating hearts and flying pigs on the screen, and the blue screen of death), I stuck to it. But one day I installed Windows Vista on my PC. That day I was so excited but like the rest of the world I was met with extreme, utter disappointment. Now, perhaps my machine couldn't handle Vista or perhaps I should've waited for Windows 7 but I realized that day that a company like Microsoft should not fail, ever. Whether it's simply crashing and freezing or it's failing operating systems, with all of its resources, Microsoft should not fail. Nor should it waste my time and money. But it did.

I am a free-lance makeup artist and a dance performance student. I qualified under all the details they gave me to get a Mac Pro Student membership ( studying dance performance). I exchanged e-mails with a lady from MAC helping me with my application. However, It has been a little over 2 weeks and I still have not heard back from anyone, should I call?
How long did it take any of you to get your MAC Pro or Mac pro student membership approval/cards?
Also if you continue on and graduate can you change your membership to just regular MAC Pro instead of keeping the Pro student?
It takes a long, long, time, and you just have to be patient. It can take up to 5 weeks. As for your other question, I am not too sure, but I would think that they would let you get the regular MAC Pro card.

They have limits and rules, though. But for advice, don't try and fake your way in. It takes awhile for them to get back to you. Why? Its the same as the counters, but the MAC store has more stuff that aren't avaliable at counters.
You get a way better service and professional advice so you can be sure you get the right products for your skin needs. Sometimes they give samples away as well.

It's basically the same thing, except you can get refill pans and palettes. Unless you're talking about the MAC Pro stores. That store is only located in four states. I know it's in NYC and LA. That is where they have special eye shadows, lipsticks, etc that you can't get at a MAC store at Macy's, Nordstroms, or even their regular store. You can order from the MAC Pro store by phone, if there isn't one near you. Also, they offer a special program where you can get discounts.
